OFSTED loved our Website - Grange over Sands Primary

Grange over Sands Primary School in Cumbria held a special assembly to celebrate their status as Millennium Schools Star School for November 2003. Head Teacher Colin Milner says, "We were delighted to be nominated as Star of the Month. I would extoll the virtues of this type of website to other schools because it is easy to use and saves us so much time."

The website proved a focal point for a recent OFSTED inspection of the school, "They were most impressed by what they saw on our website," reports Colin, "They claimed that it set the tone for what turned out to be a very good report for us."

Millennium Schools is helping staff at Grange over Sands School - and other schools like it - to embed ICT in the heart of the curriculum. Colin Milner and his staff clearly demonstrate the value of ICT as a communication tool. Anyone who spends even a few minutes browsing through the site can very quickly get a feel for the ethos of the school, and learn a great deal about the activities taking place. Millennium Schools has helped to bring this school community to life, making publishing to the web an integral part of the teacher's role.

The website is illustrated with lots of large, bright images while text is kept to a minimum. Colin Milner develops and maintains the site with the help of staff and governors. He believes that the images make the site more palatable to visitors: "Our website is most effective as a visual resource rather than a means to publish lots of written information - so thanks to Millennium Schools for making it so easy to add pictures to our site."

Colin is enthusiastic about the value of the Millennium Schools system. "Time is a great problem for busy head teachers. If we had to rely on conventional methods such as http files to create our site it would take far to much time to develop a website as good as the one we have now - Millennium Schools has saved us so much time."
