"The great thing about our Millennium Schools website is that it encapsulates the whole life of the school." So says Mr Hennessey, Head teacher at Castletown Primary School in Sunderland. Steve Waller, ICT Co-ordinator adds, "We know from comments made by parents of new children to the school that the web site is achieving its purpose as they often cite it when asked why they are choosing Castletown."

Just a quick glance around this well-planned website will enable visitors to discover the richness of school life - from pre-school to Year 6, from trips, awards, and special projects to Governors, SATs and OFSTED, Castletown's website has it all.

The teachers at Castletown Primary School use their website as a learning tool, particularly with Year 6 children, who compile pages and write content for the site. Steve says that working on the website has, "Motivated normally reluctant children and has given children a sense of pride when they have been able to show off their work not only to their parents but the community at large." He adds, "The children love to see their work or photos on the site. This improves self esteem, and encourages children who are not normally motivated to complete work. This then spills over into work that is not going on the site as they understand the reason for completing work."

The school website has also proved very useful as a tool to help children learn about using the Internet to search for information. Steve says, "It provides a safe environment for learning about navigating a web site and maintains children's interest as it directly relates to them."

Steve Waller is full of praise for the website building tools that make creating and managing a large site possible within the tight school timetable.

"The great thing about the site is how easy it is to use. The page layouts lead you through the process quickly and easily and the ability to review a page before publishing means that you can play with the content until you are happy. Another member of staff recently added a page and was amazed at just how easy it really was."

Steve Waller concludes, "To people looking to begin a web site without the hassle of HTML coding my advice is simple try Millennium Schools, it really is as easy as they say to build a web site. We can now have a new web page published, complete with photos and text, in under five minutes and the results look great. This is one product that really does what it says on the box!"
