The School
The school was founded on the present site in 1821 and the building now in use opened in 1963, with additional classrooms added in 1969, 1986 and 1999, providing accommodation for approximately 231 children. At present there are 234 pupils on roll. The school is divided into eight classes based on age groups.
There are four infant classes (Reception and Key Stage One) and four junior classes (Key Stage Two).
Recent investment of over £350,000 has seen a complete transformation of school's facilities; three new classrooms have been built, a new library, a new staff room, a new computer laboratory and new office/entrance hall. Last year 40 new PCs were installed giving school a superb pupil to PC ratio of 5:1. Our basic philosophy is that children deserve a high quality education in a stimulating environment.
Scotby School is a Church of England School, with Foundation status. The Department for Education, via the Local Education Authority, provides the School budget, which is then supplemented by self-generated income. The Governors of a Foundation school are accountable to the Local Education Authority for the running of the school. In January 2001 School's latest OFSTED report was published, and described Scotby as " a highly effective school ".
