Here's hoping you have taken the time to relax and have enjoyed the Christmas holidays.
In ICT we have taken on a range of pilots and exciting new initiatives which have included:
* establishing the teaching of ICT skills linked to the National Curriculum Guidelines
* setting up Accelerated Maths and Accelerated Reader
* helping evaluate the success of GridClub (DfES sponsored safe web-site)
* developing childrens' web pages using think.com
* trialling "Espresso" - an internet caching system - allowing our children safe and immediate access to a huge number of multimedia resources
Most exciting of all for our children ....... having won a BT Award for £5000 - we have just begun to experiment into teaching children (and staff) the skills of making fims using digital technology. We have already made several exciting short movies - all edited by our children - and hope to extend using film technology through the school.
Just as exciting for our parents ....... we have just completed our first term running adult learning classes which we hope will run on Tuesday afternoons. Please contact the office for further details - as the courses are designed to cater for all parents irrespective of current ability with the aim of upgrading skills and being able to help your children at home with using ICT - becoming aware of the sorts of exciting things your children will be involved in school.
We hope you enjoy your visit - and if you have any ideas - please let us know!
