Welcome to Werrington Primary School continuing to strive for excellence in partnership with the children, parents, governors and staff.
Our school is located in Werrington Village to the north of Peterborough.
At present we have fourteen classes from Reception to Year 6, with a total of 416 children. Our children are challenged and nurtured to embrace learning through a full, varied and creative curriculum.
The school proudly displays the awards won over the past few years, these include Eco-School status, Racial Awareness Status, Health School Status and the Artsmark Gold Award. We have gained the Basic Skills Award for the second time.
Our outstanding SATs results have earned us the Government's Excellence Award for three years in succession.
The school offers plenty of after school activities including country dancing, cookery, netball, football, salsa, science, board games, dance and drama, outdoor fun in the sun club, choir, gymnastics and athletics in the summer term. We have a small swimming pool that is used in the summer. We also run a school newspaper. The children have organised a School Council and vote for their representatives each year.
We have a large computer suite with 30 laptops and a small computer suite with 11 computers for group use and each classroom is equipped with 2 computers for individual use. We also have 30 mbbile laptops which are used in group lessons. Our computers and laptops are all networked so that a child's work can be accessed from any computer in school.
We have a very successful PTA. They organise a number of fund raising events during the year and also hold social get-togethers. Each year the PTA provide the school with money for books for the library, classroom equipment and computer hardware and software. The PTA also helps with drama performances and music groups. Recently the school had a wonderful performance of the Happy Prince which was subsidised by the PTA.
